History

The history of Ehrenbachhöhe is rich in tradition and innovation.

1930
The original hotel in 1930

Construction of the first Ehrenbachhöhe by Käthe Christalnigg

1936

In June, the hotel burned down after being struck by lightning. It was subsequently expanded with a distinctive circular structure.

1945

At the end of the war, the hotel was seized by the Americans. The hotel was run as a resort for both American and French officers

1948
The hotel returns to commercial operations

The Allies withdraw from the Ehrenbachhöhe, and it starts serving guests once again.

1973
The "Old Ehrenbachhöhe", before being destroyed by fire

On the 1st of December, 1973, the "Old Ehrenbachhöhe" was completely destroyed in a major fire.

1978
The newly rebuilt Ehrenbachhöhe Hotel, 1978

Reopening of the "New Ehrenbachhöhe"

After four years of construction, Herbert Thurner and his wife Maria, who had run the hotel together for over 50 years, were able to welcome the first guests to the completely rebuilt Ehrenbachhöhe in December 1978.
